Homemade sweet and tangy blueberry preserve

This homemade blueberry jam embodies the very essence of summer. The sweet and tangy combination of fresh blueberries, sugar, and a touch of lemon juice results in a jam that is as vibrant in flavor as it is in color.

Making your own jam may seem daunting, but it’s simpler than you might think. Plus, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of spreading a generous layer of your homemade preserve on a warm, buttered toast. You can also use this blueberry jam as a filling for pies or tarts or a topping for pancakes or ice cream. Whatever you choose, it will bring a touch of sweetness and a burst of fruity flavor to your meals.

  • 4 cups fresh blueberries
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  1. Place the blueberries in a large pot and crush them.
  2. Add sugar and lemon juice to the pot.
  3. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Increase heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring frequently, for about 15 minutes or until the jam has thickened.
  6. Pour the jam into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
  7. Seal jars with lids and rings, then process in a water bath canner for 10 minutes.
